Start first; customize later
The focus screen is designed to open directly to a timer. You do not need to make an account or finish a setup flow before beginning. Choose a routine, add one intention, and start when you are ready.
Useful tools, without pressure
The current alpha includes timer modes, a small local task list, browser-generated ambience, appearance options, and a local data export. It is intentionally designed to remain useful without an account. An optional Firebase account and cloud-sync path is now included for configured development projects.
Timer patterns and sound options are personal tools rather than promises. Use a shorter or longer interval, switch off the audio, pause when you need to, and ignore any feature that does not help.
Privacy-conscious by default
By default, tasks, preferences, saved presets and focus history are kept in browser local storage. Optional Firebase account/cloud support can be enabled by the project owner; cloud sync requires a verified email and an explicit data-source choice. No analytics, live advertising or checkout is connected. Local data may be lost if browser storage is cleared, so keep independent backups.
Read the current privacy notes and terms draft for more details and the items that must be reviewed before public launch.
Music credits and licence notes
focusroom keeps creator names here as a courtesy. The lo-fi compilation tracks A Cup of Tea, Cue, Bartender, Cat Caffe, Rainy Forest, Countryside, Oceanside, Florist and Morning Rain are by TAD. First Light Particles is by Yoiyami. Pretty Little Lies and Mundane are by HoliznaCC0. The recorded-nature selections Rain w/bass, Trickling Stream in the Forest, Fire Crackling and Forest Ambience are credited to colorsCrimsonTears, RyanKingArt, ceich93 and guidofm respectively. The selected works are identified as CC0. CC0 does not require attribution or outbound source links; creator names are included out of respect. Full provenance and licence evidence are retained in focusroom's internal asset register, not linked from the listening experience.
Mundane and Pretty Little Lies are bundled as local MP3 assets in Focusroom, and the four selected nature recordings are included as local WAV/FLAC assets. The other ten music tracks remain source-hosted, so those tracks require an internet connection and their availability can change. The listening interface keeps creator credits and licence notes together without sending listeners to source or licence-record pages.
An honest work in progress
The name focusroom is the current user-facing brand. The visual experience continues to improve through testing and feedback. Features that need a server, paid provider, external approval, or licensed catalogue remain deferred until the implementation and costs can be checked. The developer alpha is not represented as a production-ready public service.
